How to Make your Video Marketing Personal

As a Marketer, I love automation.It allows you to keep in contact with you customer database with tools such as autoreponders. But it also has its downside.

Just recently I received a very nice email from one of my suppliers wishing me a very happy birthday. I rang to thank them for their lovely email and they replied, “What email?” Oh. Apparently it was fully automated and the “sender” wasn’t even aware it had been sent out.

Sure I appreciate an email for my birthday but really, it’s meaningless. Once my birthday has been inputted in their database, it’s fully automated. and forgotten. There has been no personal effort made.


Is there a better way to use automation? Yes there is.

Use automation to let you know when a customer has a birthday then pick up your smartphone and video yourself wishing them a happy birthday. Why not sing it to them? Then send it through to them instantly. All done.

Now I can hear you saying, but Gerry, how can I do that – I have hundreds and thousands of customers. Ok, you may need to be selective. But really, how long will it take to record a happy birthday message to someone? Maybe a minute. So if you were to record just 10 birthday messages each day – that’s just 10 minutes, you would do over 3000 videos each year.

Just imagine your best customers opening up their emails to see your lovely face singing “Happy Birthday” to them. Imagine the impact that will have. Imagine what that will do for your relationship with them.

That is using the benefits of automation plus personal effort for maximum impact.
